This course has been designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to enter and work in confined spaces, and is an appropriate unit for those working in operational roles undertaking work in a confined space. 

The course offers a mix of both theoretical and practical training and covers the key points to working in confined spaces including: 

• Regulatory requirements
• Risk Assessment & Hierarchy of Controls
• Preparing to work in a confined space
• Use of atmospheric testing equipment
• Entering confined spaces
• Working within the confined space
• Safe exiting of the confined space
• Pre & Post Operational Checks
• Equipment Maintenance
• Storing of atmospheric testing equipment 

This course is delivered face to face only. 

All participants undertaking this course are required to demonstrate the following to be eligible for enrolment in this course:

• Must be 16 years or older
• Ability to speak, read and write English. 
• Have sound basic numeracy skills
• Physically fit to complete practical components
• Have photo ID
• Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). From 1st January 2015 each student that will be commencing nationally recognised training in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to be able to obtain their certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation. Persons undertaking this course are required to complete written, verbal and practical assessment.

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency:

The participant will also receive a plasticised statement of attainment wallet card.
