This course has been designed to provide learners with the skills and knowledge required to work safely at heights and is appropriate for those working in operational roles where they are required to perform work at heights.

The course offers a mix of both theoretical and practical training, and covers key points to working safely at heights, including:

  • Regulatory requirements
  • Risk assessment & hierarchy of controls
  • When fall prevention is required
  • Alternate means of accessing heights
  • Height safety equipment
  • Safe anchoring
  • Pre & post operational checks
  • Equipment maintenance

This course is delivered face to face only. 

All participants undertaking this course are required to demonstrate the following to be eligible for enrolment in this course:

  • Must be 16 years or older
  • Ability to speak, read and write English. 
  • Have sound basic numeracy skills
  • Physically fit to complete practical components
  • Have photo ID
  • Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). From 1st January 2015 each student that will be commencing nationally recognised training in Australia is required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to be able to obtain their certificate or qualification from their registered training organisation. Persons undertaking this course are required to complete written, verbal and practical assessment.

 

Upon successful completion of this course, the participant will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency:

RIIWHS204E – Working safely at heights

The participant will also receive a plasticised statement of attainment wallet card.
